LeBron James was upset the Cavs didn’t trade for Paul George or Eric Bledsoe
LeBron James was reported to be upset the Cavaliers front office didn’t land Paul George or Eric Bledsoe.
Another day, another LeBron James/Cleveland Cavaliers story. The Cavaliers have seemed more like a soap opera than a professional basketball team as of late. The team is struggling; they’ve lost 10 of their last 13 games with several of them being blowouts. This past Saturday the Cavs gave up 148 points to the Oklahoma City Thunder. And last but not least, locker room issues have reared their head, with Isaiah Thomas leading the charge questioning Kevin Love’s commitment. It would appear the only way for the Cavs to go is up, right?
Wrong.
It’s now reported that LeBron James wasn’t happy with the Cavaliers brass for not trading for Paul George or Eric Bledsoe. The team’s wild summer peaked when then-point guard Kyrie Irving asked for a trade. The team conceded, trading Irving to the Boston Celtics for Thomas, Jae Crowder Ante Zizic and Boston’s 2018 first-round pick.
"In an appearance on the Lowe Post podcast, Windhorst told his ESPN colleague Zach Lowe that the thing that bothers LeBron most about the Cavs was that they missed out on Paul George and Eric Bledsoe. The Cavs reportedly had a deal in place with the Pacers for George before Indiana backed out. George was eventually traded to Oklahoma City for Victor Oladipo and Domantas Sabonis."

Star-driven teams usually don’t show long-term success without a core team philosophy to back it up. The Cavaliers don’t have that. They live and die on the success of James. Although the San Antonio Spurs and Golden State both had star players miss games, their core-philosophies carried on. The Cavaliers, coupled with a lack of a system/catering to James have always had drama. The question now is whether they’ll address the real issue, the power James holds.
