The XFL is coming back in just two short years and they’re going to need to sign some headline players to get the league up and running.

Football fans rejoice! There will soon be an alternative to the NFL as WWE chairman Vince McMahon is bringing back the XFL, his football league that only lasted one season back in 2001. One of the keys to having success this time around is finding players that fans will want to watch. A big issue for the XFL the first time around was that the on-field product wasn’t very good. For all the complaints the NFL gets on a weekly basis, they were light years ahead of where the old XFL used to be.

One of the main selling points of this new league will have to be the personalities of the players they bring in. The last time around, the XFL tried to amplify the violence. That’s probably not the smartest move in this day and age. A large section of fans don’t want to see guys get hurt needlessly because of relaxed rules. A solution to that is to bring in guys who can trash talk with the best of them. NFL players who either never shut up or who were divisive in some way would be money for McMahon’s new league. In addition, they should likely focus on the quarterback position. That’s where the most recognizable names are and the money is at.

With the start date not until 2020, there will be some players on this list that are current NFL players but could need a new job in a couple years. A key for success for this version of the XFL is to find players that can still play relatively close to an NFL level. Any current player who makes this list isn’t meant to suggest that they will give up an NFL career. It’s merely someone the XFL should be interested in if they get the chance.
