NBA Power Rankings: Blake Griffin trade shakes things up
By Daniel Lewis
The Wizards did a very Wizards thing, getting swept this season by the Mavericks as they dropped their second game against the Dirk Nowitzki-lead team on Monday, 98-75. The Wizards couldn’t keep their mouths shut, with Bradley Beal exchanging words with Dennis Smith Jr., John Wall exchanging words with J.J. Barea, with Markieff Morris and Scott Brooks also drawing technicals in the game. The Wizards shot just 31 percent from the floor, and had their second-lowest point total of the season, with their only worse game coming against the Jazz in December, when they scored just 69 points.
They had a few days off to prepare for their road game against the Thunder, but whatever film they watched, it didn’t help, because Russell Westbrook exploded for 46 points to lead OKC to a 121-112 victory. Bradley Beal had 41 points, showing off his versatile offensive game, but they didn’t have an answer for the reigning MVP. They were able to get one win this week, polishing off the Atlanta Hawks for a 129-104 victory, doing so without Wall, who rested with a sore knee. Tim Frazier had 14 assists for the Wizards off the bench, and they had a crazy 40 assists on 49 field goals for the game.
