The two worst defensive teams in the Premier League meet on Wednesday, as Stoke host Watford at bet365 Stadium. The Potters have allowed 50 goals this season, six more than second-worst Watford. Stoke are 17th in the Premier League table, three points behind 10th place Watford.

After a disappointing first half of the season, Stoke decided to fire manager Mark Hughes and replace him with Paul Lambert. In Lambert’s debut match, Stoke defeated Huddersfield 2-0, with Mame Diouf scoring his team-best fifth goal of the season. Diouf centers the front three, alongside wingers Xherdan Shaqiri and Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting. The trio have scored 13 of Stoke’s 25 goals this season. While Stoke are middle of the league offensively, the Potters survival this season will depend on Lambert’s ability to improve their defense.

Watford’s loss to Leicester in their last Premier League was the final straw for Marco Silva, who was fired after the game. The Hornets had won only one of their previous 11 games under Silva, picking up only five points. Javi Garcia takes over as manager and will look to improve Watford’s leaky defense. Offensively, Watford have scored 33 goals, the eighth most in the Premier League. Abdoulaye Doucouré leads the club with seven goals while playing in behind the striker.
