When you think about some of the more disappointing teams in the NFL this past season, the Oakland Raiders have to come to mind. Coming off a 12-4 season, and getting their quarterback back, most figured the Raiders would at least make the playoffs for the second straight season. Instead, they finished towards the bottom of the AFC West, going 6-10, and firing Jack Del Rio after a bad loss in Week 17 to the Los Angeles Chargers.

With Del Rio gone, the organization turned their attention to Jon Gruden. In fact, the move to Gruden likely took place around Christmas time, but signing him was just a formality. As they head into next season, this team has a lot of work to do, but Derek Carr will likely bounce back, and the offense should be fine moving forward.

On defense, they need a lot of help, as the linebacking and defensive backfield units need an upgrade. At linebacker, the Raiders may be able to draft Roquan Smith this early in round one, and he would be a perfect fit in the middle of their defense. Smith showed the world what kind of player he is during the Georgia Bulldogs’ two biggest wins of the season, and he is the kind of player Gruden loves to coach. Smith to Oakland makes a lot of sense at No. 10.
