With one week until the NBA’s trade deadline, players’ fantasy basketball value could skyrocket at a moment’s notice.

When a trade goes down, the players involved aren’t the only ones whose fantasy value will rise or fall. Look no further than the Blake Griffin trade, which could adversely affect Lou Williams once Avery Bradley gets worked into the fold. Andre Drummond owners also have to be concerned about Griffin cutting into his touches on offense, particularly if he reduces Drummond’s chances as a playmaker.

None of the following five players appear to be in jeopardy of landing on a new team within the next week, but each one has at least one teammate who is. If their respective teams trade said player without receiving someone who plays that same position in return, it could behoove the remaining incumbents. They would thus face far less competition for playing time heading into the stretch run of the fantasy regular season.

Fantasy owners should stay glued to the rumor mill over the next week and remain proactive both in trade offers and waiver-wire pickups. All five of the following players would be worth a speculative add — whether via the free-agent pool or a buy-low trade — in case they do have the opportunity to soar heading into the fantasy playoffs.
