Eagles run wild play for Nick Foles TD catch (Video)

It was an entertaining first half in Super Bowl LII. And Philadelphia Eagles’ quarterback Nick Foles came up with the play of the game so far.

The Philadelphia Eagles are looking for their first NFL title since 1960. And it’s pretty evident that head coach Doug Pederson is willing to pull out all the stops in an attempt for the Birds to hoist the Vince Lombardi Trophy for the first time.

Both the Birds (323) and the New England Patriots (350) rolled up 300-plus yards before intermission. But it was Philadelphia that owned a 22-12 lead at intermission as quarterback Nick Foles kept Bill Belichick’s club off-balance for the entire first half.

The backup to Carson Wentz/turned Super Bowl starter hit on 13 of his 22 throws for 215 yards and one score in the first 30 minutes. Foles also wound up serving up an odd interception that was all Alshon Jeffery’s doing. A deep pass to the Philadelphia wideout was deflected into the hands of Patriots’ safety Duron Harmon.

After New England narrowed the score to 15-12 in the second quarter, the Eagles took over and marched down the field. When it was all said and done, Pederson’s club faced fourth-and goal with 38 seconds remaining in the half. And then we go this:

Yes, that Nick Foles catching a one-yard TD pass from reserve tight end Trey Burton. The Eagles’ quarterback was left all alone in the end zone by a stunned New England defense. A successful PAT and Philadelphia has the 10-point lead at the half.

A mere 30 minutes into Super Bowl LII, Foles has thrown for one score (to Jeffery) and caught one himself. Of course, a 10-point deficit for the defending Super Bowl champions may wind up being mere child’s play considering we saw this team rally from a 28-3 third-quarter deficit in Super Bowl LI a year ago.
