2018 NFL Mock Draft: Josh Rosen goes to Broncos
By Brad Weiss
It has been a crazy time in Giants land since the 2017 NFL season started, as they have seen their head coach and general manager get fired. Dave Gettleman was hired to replace Jerry Reese, and he is a very successful GM who helped build the Carolina Panthers into a playoff team. Pat Shurmur took a Case Keenum-led Minnesota Vikings offense to the NFC title game this season, and the Giants wasted no time hiring him as their head coach moving forward.
Shurmur has said that Eli Manning will be his guy next season, and that he liked Davis Webb coming out of college. While the Giants could certainly pick a quarterback at No. 2, they may want to draft a player who can come in right away and turn this thing around. Remember, this was a playoff team in 2016, so they are not too far away from being a dominant force in the NFC once again.
Saquon Barkley is a running back, and while it is not common for someone who plays his position to be picked this high, it could be the case in April. He is an incredibly talented player, who can hurt a defense in the running and passing game. The Giants have to fix their offensive line, but we have seen teams do that via free agency in recent years, so going running back with the second overall pick is not such a crazy idea.
