The 2018 30-team NBA mega-trade that solves nothing and makes everyone mad

New York Knicks
Sending out: Doug McDermott (TOR), Kyle O’Quinn (NOP), Ron Baker (LAL)
Bringing in: Markieff Morris (WAS), Shelvin Mack (ORL)
Kristaps Porzingis has said he would like the Knicks to try and make a move to fight for the playoffs this season. As unlikely and misguided as that sentiment may be the Knicks need to keep Kristaps happy and a late playoff run could help energize their young players and fanbase alike.
Here the Knicks ship out odds and ends for some useful and fairly inexpensive veterans. Baker is interested and, frankly, overmatched in the NBA (despite being likable as all get out). McDermott isn’t doing much for New York and moving O’Quinn would force Jeff Hornacek to work Willy Hernangomez back into the rotation.
Morris has never been as productive as he was in Phoenix but he’s a versatile big man would play well next to Porzingis. Mack is a steady back-up point guard who would let the Knicks stop burning themselves with Jarret Jack. It’s probably not enough to get the Knicks in the playoffs. But it makes them better and that should make Porzingis happier.
