The Oregon Ducks have fallen from their once great heights, but will their 2018 recruiting class aid them in righting the ship?

Remember when the Oregon Ducks were among the untouchables in the college football world? It seems like forever ago, even if that’s not the case. That’s because their ultimate fall from grace has been hard, and they’re now going through transition with Willie Taggert, who just recently arrived, leaving to fill the FSU vacancy.

Many times when you have a coaching change, one are where it’s felt is in recruiting. While the Ducks haven’t taken a major hit, they also don’t have any commits that are ranked in the top 100 of the 247 Sports Composite Rankings. Yes, that’s not a great thing for a team needing to essentially rebuild. However, they still do have some promising players on the way to Eugene.

Wide receiver Jalen Hall is a 4-star that falls outside of the top 100, but he has a 6-foot-4 frame that makes him more than intriguing. Even better, the Ducks have also landed quarterback Tyler Slough, the seventh-best pro-style passer in the class. On the defensive side, they have a nice safety prospect headed their way as well in Steve Stephens, the No. 11 player at his position in the 2018 class.

Those are the big-name recruits for the Ducks this year, but there is obviously more talent heading their way. Let’s take a look at the rest of the 2018 Oregon recruiting class:

This is a quality class overall. However, I’m not entirely sure it moves the needle in the manner that Oregon needs it to. They need to hit home runs, and this is basically hitting a double. So while it’s a solid group to add to the mix, it’s not going to get them the highest marks.
