77. . C. Texas A&M. Robert Williams. 12. player

It’s extremely difficult to project the Clippers going forward, but upside youngsters like Williams are exactly the kinds of players the team should be targeting.

In trading Blake Griffin, Los Angeles made it clear that they value future flexibility and freedom over an expensive playoff team. Now, the Griffin trade grants them the opportunity to take on two additional rookies this summer, with potentially both picks coming in the lottery.

Williams is an athletic big in the mold of Clint Capela and the Clippers’ own DeAndre Jordan. He has gotten back to his efficient self over the team’s last three games, shooting 15-19 from the field. Despite occasionally tinkering with a jumper that may one day spike his ceiling, the sophomore is at his best making easier shots around the rim.

Defensively, Williams has the potential to be a game changer. He is a great rim protector (four blocks per game over his last three) despite standing just 6-9. And his size allows him to contain guards like a forward.

With this pick, Los Angeles would get a potential building block in the middle.
