Olympic speed skating: Women’s 3000m results and highlights

The Netherlands had a clean sweep of the podim in speed skating, Ladies’ 3,000m at the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, South Korea.

The Netherlands are always a dominant force in speed skating and they proved it once again on the first day of the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang. The women of the Netherlands had a clean sweep of the podium in the Ladies’ 3,000m, winning every medal

Carlijn Achtereekte finished with gold, Ireen Wust with Silver and Antoinette De Jong winning bronze. All three finished within a second of one another and Achtereekte edged Wust for gold by 0.08 seconds.

Martina Sablikova of the Czech Republic finished fourth and Japan’s Miho Takagi finished fifth. Canada had a pair of women finish in sixth and seventh respectively.

Carlijn Schoutens of the United States finished in 22nd, well behind the leaders, with a time of 4:15.60.
