Dak Prescott gets humiliated by David Carr on video

Dallas Cowboys starting quarterback Dak Prescott had a bit of a sophomore slump in 2017. Here he is getting owned by David Carr in a throwing competition.

2017 was not about them Cowboys. The Dallas Cowboys have lofty expectations coming off a strong 2016 NFL campaign where they went 13-3 and earned the No. 1 seed in the NFC. Even with Dak Prescott at quarterback and Ezekiel Elliott at running back, they weren’t good enough two years ago to win a playoff game.

Losing Elliott for six games due to suspension in 2017 didn’t help Dallas get back into the playoffs. Frankly, neither did Prescott’s regression as a quarterback back in his second year in the starting role. Though a franchise quarterback, he looks to be closer to Danny White than the Tony Romo in Cowboys quarterbacking lore.

During Super Bowl week up in Minneapolis, Prescott was asked to take part in a throwing competition with NFL Network analyst and former No. 1 overall pick David Carr. Carr may not have had the career he wanted coming out of Fresno State. Getting rag dolled behind a wet paper bag of a Houston Texans offensive line will do that to you. But he can still throw. Prescott, not so much.

Carr was whipping those footballs at the strategically placed targets, connecting on more than he didn’t. At times, he looked even more accurate than his young brother in Derek Carr, the Oakland Raiders’ franchise quarterback. Prescott could not hit the backside of a barn, as his throws went everywhere but the targets.

Eventually the non-starting NFL quarterback in Carr would tire, because, well you know, he works in television now. It seemed that Carr wanted to give Prescott ample opportunities to hit at least one target. After Carr was able to skim a pass off the ground to further embarrass Prescott, Prescott finally connected on the last target. It was bad, real bad.

So no, this does not make the Cowboys’ massive fan base feel super excited about their franchise quarterback. How can you beat Nick Foles, let alone Carson Wentz, twice annually if your starting quarterback is sailing throws like he’s Christian Hackenberg or something? It’s not like there’s 300-pound monsters trying to maul you while you throw either.

Sure, this could have been a really off-day for Prescott, but it’s not a good look for him at all. With the troubles that wide receiver Dez Bryant and tight end Jason Witten have getting open, Prescott has to improve his accuracy way beyond whatever we saw in Minneapolis. If David Carr kicked your butt, you’ve got some problems, man.
