Sweden’s Hanna Oeberg takes home the gold medal in the women’s 15km individual of the biathlon. Here are the results from Thursday’s biathlon event.

We have a new winner in a women’s biathlon event at the 2018 Pyeongchang Games. After winning both the women’s 7.5km sprint and the women’s 10km pursuit, Germany’s Laura Dahlmeier only came in third place in the women’s 15km individual. The new winner on Thursday is Hanna Oeberg of Sweden.

Opberg won the women’s 15km individual of the biathlon with a time of 41 minutes and 7.2 seconds. She did not miss a target in the shooting portion of the event. After finishing in the top 10 in both the sprint and the pursuit, Oeberg has taken home her first Olympic medal in a gold in the women’s 15km individual.

Coming in second place was Anastasiya Kuzmina of Slovakia. She earned the silver medal with a time of 41 minutes and 31.9 seconds, missing two shooting targets. This is Kuzmina’s second silver medal of the 2018 Winter Olympics, as she earned silver in the women’s 10km pursuit. This is her fifth Winter Olympic medal of her career spanning three Olympiads.

Dahlmeier continues to impress in her breakout Olympic Games. While she didn’t win the women’s 15km individual, Dahlmeier took home the bronze with a time of 41 minutes and 48.4 seconds, with just one penalty. She has medalled in all three biathlon events so far in the Pyeongchang Games.

Here are the results for the women’s 15km individual in the biathlon.

Overall, visibility was better in the individual on Thursday. This is due to an earlier start time, as this all kicked off at 5:15 p.m. KT. This also led to a better performance by some of the American athletes. Both Susan Dunklee and Joanne Firesteel Reid finished in the top-25 on Thursday evening in Pyeongchang.

Dunklee finished in 19th place with a time of 44 minutes and 33.5 seconds, missing just two targets. Firesteel Reid came in 22nd place with a time of 44 minutes and 41.3 seconds, missing only one target. Neither Clare Egan or Emily Dreissigacker did as well, as they finished 62nd and 67th out of 87 competitors, respectively.
