Men’s Olympic Ice Hockey action continues as Russia battles Slovenia in for position in Group B. Here is how you can watch!

After just one game in Olympic Ice Hockey, things are shaken up. Two of the favorites to win Group B suffered setbacks in their opening games. Slovenia faced off with the United States in their first game, coming back from a two-goal deficit to win in overtime. It earned them two points in the standings and they sit in second in Group B.

The Olympic Athletes from Russia were not so lucky in their first game. Like the United States, OAR took a two-goal lead.  Vladislav Gavrikov got OAR on the board 2:54 in, followed by a tip-in by Kirill Kaprizov 74 seconds later. However, Slovakia mounted a comeback before the first period was over. The game remained tied into the third period when Slovakia notched a power-play goal. The loss left the OAR looking up from the bottom of the Group B standings.

Two games remain for both Slovakia and the OAR, making today’s game crucial to their hopes of moving onto the next round. With eight of the 12 teams in the field moving into the quarterfinals, a loss by the OAR will almost eliminate them from the tournament. Should Slovenia win, they would have 5 standings points, and would be assured of moving on. The OAR would still be without points in the standings. It would be a rather large Olympic upset this year.
