2018 NFL Draft: Indianapolis Colts 7 round mock draft

What a terrible season for the Indianapolis Colts in 2017. They will now look to the 2018 NFL Draft to rebound.
The saga surrounding Indianapolis Colts quarterback Andrew Luck hung like a dark cloud over the 2017 season. That season ended with the team going 4-12. Now they will utilize the third pick, and the rest of the draft, to re-stock a depleted roster going into 2018.

Round 1 – Pick 3
Bradley Chubb, EDGE, North Carolina State
The entire NFL draft world has slotted North Carolina State’s Bradley Chubb into the third pick to the Colts. That probably means it won’t happen. It just makes too much sense which is why it is such a popular pick.
Indianapolis finished second to last in the NFL in sacks at 25. The team struggled to get to the quarterback all season. A premier pass rusher can make all the difference, especially coupled with the young secondary pieces the team drafted a year ago.
In a draft that is a bit lacking in edge rushers, Chubb stands out. No one will confuse him for last year’s top draft pick Myles Garrett. What Chubb does bring is a relentless motor, power and excellent technique off the edge. He is not the athlete that some of the others in the class are but he is by far the most dominant.
Teams playing N.C. State utilized everything they could to avoid Chubb. He still put up elite production and disrupted everything. Once the Colts decided to make their switch to an even front, the pick of Chubb makes even more sense. At 6-foot-4 and 275 pounds he has the prototypical size and traits as an end.
There is the slim chance that Colts’ owner Jim Irsay goes for the splash pick and grabs Penn State’s Saquon Barkley. That would be a mistake, on a team so light on talent. Chubb is a game changing, offensive wrecking menace that can make the defense light years better.
