France’s Martin Fourcade earns his second gold medal in the biathlon at Pyeongchang on Sunday evening. Here are the results to the men’s 15 km mass start.

The individual events of the biathlon in the 2018 Pyeongchang Games are in the books. Taking home the last gold medal in the individual events was France’s Martin Fourcade. He won the men’s 15 km mass start on Sunday evening with a time of 35 minutes and 47.3 seconds with two penalties.

This was Fourcade’s second gold medal in Pyeongchang, as he won the men’s 12.5 km pursuit. He finished in the top 10 in all four of his events in the 2018 Winter Olympic Games. Fourcade now has six Olympic medals in the biathlon over three Olympiads, four golds and two silvers.

Earning the silver medal in the men’s 15 km mass start was Germany’s Simon Schempp. This was his first medal of the Pyeongchang Games and his first medal as an individual. He had previously earned a medal as part of the 4×7.5km relay in Sochi. Schempp finished Sunday’s race with a time of 35 minutes and 47.3 seconds with just one penalty.

Taking home the bronze in the men’s 15 km mass start was Norway’s Emil Hegle Svendsen. He did so with a time of 35 minutes and 58.2 seconds. This was Svendsen’s first medal in Pyeongchang and his sixth over four Olympiads. Svendsen had previously won the mass start in the 2014 Sochi Games.

Here are the results for the men’s 15 km mass start of the 2018 Pyeongchang Games.

The United States did not have a biathlete qualify for the men’s 15 km mass start. That means America went 0-8 in the eight individual biathlon events in terms of winning a medal. Only three more events remain, all of which are of the relay variety.

While a few American athletes did finish inside the top-25 in some events, this does not look to be the year where the United States finally breaks through and earned a medal in the biathlon. The next medal event will be held on Tuesday when the mixed relay will be upon us. The biathletes will be training for it on Monday at the Alpensia Biathlon Centre.
