In the first Olympics women’s hockey classification game, Switzerland topped Korea 2-0 to advance to the fifth-place game

The first Olympics women’s hockey classification game of Pyeongchang saw Switzerland go against Korea. This was a rematch of the first women’s hockey game of the 2018 Olympics, which saw the Swiss blow out the host country. Though it wasn’t a blowout this time, Switzerland still beat Korea 2-0.

This time around, Korea played a very safe game. Though Switzerland put 53 shots on goal, Korean goaltender So Jung Shin was up to the task, stopping 51 of them. Meanwhile, Korea put up 19 shots on goal on Janine Alder, who stopped each of them.

For the first time in the tournament, Alina Muller of Switzerland was kept off the scoresheet. She did, however, put up four shots on goal. Korea defended her line extremely well, so give the team credit for that. The Swiss got their goals from Sabrina Zollinger in the second period and Evelina Raselli in the third period.

The crowd was impressive and very excited for the game. Though Korea wasn’t able to give them a win, it was encouraging to see so many people pumped up for women’s hockey. The ladies play so well and get such little attention for it. It was amazing to see Korea unified, even if it might be just for a few weeks. The Olympics is an event known for sportsmanship and unity, and the unified team proved that.
