The two titans of women’s ice hockey will face-off once again as the United States takes on Canada. This time for Olympic Gold. When can you tune in?

It is the ice hockey match we have all been waiting for, and most everyone expected. While we received a small taste of this bitter rivalry during group play, nothing will compare to the action on the ice now. For the fifth time in six Olympic games, the United States will face Canada in the gold medal match. Canada has won the four previous gold, while the US won the initial gold medal in woman’s hockey in 1998.

The two teams were never really challenged on the way to the gold medal game. The Canadian team swept through group play with little adversity. Winning all three games, Canada outscored their opponents 11-2, with their games against the United States being the closest of all. As for the Americans, they best Finland and the Olympic Athletes from Russia by a total of 8-1. They then fell to Canada 2-1. Both teams qualified for the semifinals after group play and awaited their next opponents.

It didn’t matter in the long run. Both Finland and the OAR won their semifinal matches and went on to face the US and Canada, respectively. And, they both lost 5-0. Now, the stage is set for one of the best rivalries in sports, the US and Canada for women’s hockey gold.
