The Denver Broncos will have a new face at quarterback next season, and that means former starter Trevor Siemian will go to a new team.

With the NFL entering the slow time of the offseason, rumors are swirling. Most eyes in the league are looking forward to next week’s combine in Indianapolis. When all the executives and front offices get together, moves happen. One of the dominoes expected to fall is the Denver Broncos finding a trade partner to take quarterback Trevor Siemian.

According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapaport, via a story by Marc Sessler, Siemian is on the trade block.

"NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported Wednesday that Siemian is expected to be available through a trade as the Broncos plan to aggressively overhaul their quarterback room, per a source informed of the situation."

Siemian is in his third season after being drafted in the seventh round by Denver. He won the quarterback battle to start for the team following Peyton Manning’s retirement. Siemian was the team’s starter for 25 games in 2016 and ’17. Over that span he threw for a shade over 5,600 yards, with 30 touchdowns and 24 interceptions. The team missed the playoffs in each of the last two seasons.

Siemian’s price tag should be low. He is a below-average starter in the league. What he can offer is a solid back-up plan in the quarterback-needy NFL.

Next: Denver Broncos offseason needs

Denver has it’s sights set on free agent quarterback Kirk Cousins. Should they whiff on the big fish, contingency plans include Case Keenum or AJ McCarron.

The team also holds the No. 5 pick in the upcoming NFL draft. Denver has been linked to all four of the top quarterback prospects. The Broncos coaching staff was able to coach two of the four, Baker Mayfield and Josh Allen at the Senior Bowl.
