A final look at the Olympics men’s hockey bracket follow OAR’s gold medal victory over Germany.

The favorites entering the Olympics men’s hockey tournament, the Olympic Athletes from Russia, ended up skating away with gold. But they couldn’t leave Pyeongchang without a fight from one of the biggest underdogs in the tournament.

Here is a look at the final bracket:

Germany had its best finish in Olympics hockey history, taking silver after losing to OAR in the gold medal game.

Germany put up a great effort and even led with one minute left in regulation. Nikita Gusev’s goal in the final minute sent the game to overtime. Karill Kaprizov won it for OAR with a power play goal, set up by Gusev.

Gusev and Kaprizov finished one-two in scoring for the tournament. Finland’s Eeli Tolvanen finished third.

This is OAR’s first gold medal since 1992, when the Unified Team defeated Canada. Technically, Russia has yet to win a gold medal in hockey. The Soviet Union, the Unified Team, and now the Olympic Athletes from Russia have won gold.

While OAR will savor this victory for the next four years, the big story coming out of the tournament is Germany. After failing to qualify for the 2014 Winter Olympics, the Germans were within one minute of winning gold. If the NHL allows players to compete in 2020, Germany will likely suffer a major setback, but this was a tournament it can be proud of.

The two-time defending gold medalists, Canada, skated away with bronze after defeating Czech Republic. Canada wasn’t quite the same without a lineup full of NHL superstars, but a bronze medal finish is nothing to be ashamed of.

The biggest disappointment in the tournament was Sweden. Undefeated in group play, it looked to be a lock to at least stand on the podium. Instead, Sweden failed to win a single game in the tournament round.
