The New York Rangers are having an “everything must go” sale, but teams will need to step their offers up if they want JT Miller or Mats Zuccarello.

The New York Rangers are selling anyone and everyone at the deadline, but they aren’t about to hand players to other teams.

The Rangers released a statement earlier this month stating that they would “add young, competitive players that combine speed, skill, and character. This may mean we lose some familiar faces.”

Their roster reshaping started over the weekend when they traded Rick Nash to the Boston Bruins in exchange for Ryan Spooner, Matt Beleskey, Ryan Lindgren, a 2018 first-round pick, and a 2017 seventh-round pick. It was a good haul for the declining 33-year-old forward.

Mats Zuccarello has 43 points in 62 games this season. He would be a fantastic addition to any team hoping to make a real run at the Stanley Cup. He’s scored 49-plus points in four straight seasons. He has one year remaining on a deal that will pay him $4.5 million next season.

J.T. Miller has 40 points for the Blueshirts this season. The 24-year-old center is a restricted free agent after this season.

Given Zuccarello’s age and contract status, the Rangers are likely more inclined to trade him. Miller is young enough to be part of the future in New York and the price could be too high for certain teams.
