2018 NFL Mock Draft: Jets fly high with Baker Mayfield
By Brad Weiss
The Washington Redskins biggest question this offseason was what they plan to do with Kirk Cousins. The quarterback has been the leader of the team over the last few seasons, but team owner Dan Snyder just never could get himself to commit to him long-term. Already this offseason, the Redskins have answered that question, as they traded with the Kansas City Chiefs to bring in Alex Smith to be their guy going forward.
When it comes to the NFL Draft, the Redskins have a lot of needs. One area where they could stand to get better is at linebacker, and they may be able to get a guy like Tremaine Edmunds with the No. 13 overall pick. Some scouts have him as the best overall linebacker in this draft class, but if he does slip outside of the top-10, the Redskins would be a nice landing spot.
Two years ago, the Redskins won the NFC East, so the team is not so derived at talent that they cannot turn things around in 2018. Smith is a very good regular season quarterback, though he has struggled to get it done in the playoffs. He was a safe play for Snyder, and with a bunch of solid weapons around him, he should make the Redskins at least competitive in the NFC East next season.
