Tottenham beat Huddersfield 2-0 at Wembley on Saturday, March 3. Here all the highlights from the match.

Tottenham cruised past Huddersfield at Wembley on Saturday, riding Heung-min Son’s brace to a 2-0 win and, at least temporarily, third place in the Premier League.

The Terriers had the first meaningful attack of the match within 90 seconds, but from there on out Spurs were dominant.

The front four all had their moments, but Son was the star. His lovely turn and run created his side’s first good chance of the match in the 17th minute — which Harry Kane couldn’t squeeze past Jonas Lossl from close range — and he opened the scoring 10 minutes later, played through by Dele Alli and easily rounding Lossl before slotting in.

Huddersfield, for their part, could barely string three passes together, pegged so deep by Spurs’ waves of attack they were left with no real options on the counter. Steve Mounie worked hard, but he was completely isolated, and wasn’t able to hold the ball up effectively under pressure from Davinson Sanchez, Jan Vertonghen and co.

Still, as dominant as Tottenham were, a 1-0 lead left them vulnerable, and they were nearly exposed shortly after halftime, when Tom Ince got in behind their defense only to drill a powerful shot too close to Hugo Lloris. It was a decent effort, but also sprung the counter-attack that saw Spurs double their lead.

A quick string of passes got the ball to Kane on the right wing, the Englishman whipped in an excellent cross to the back post and Son directed an intelligent header back across Lossl and into the net. It was an excellent team goal.

With a massive Champions League round of 16 second leg on Wednesday, this was about as routine a win as Mauricio Pochettino could have hoped for. As for Huddersfield, this was a limp display, but not a match they would have expected much from. More important tests lie ahead if they’re to avoid the drop.
