College Basketball Rankings: Projected Top 25 for Week 18

With Week 17 of the college basketball season in the books, here’s what the AP Top 25 rankings might look like for Week 18.

The college basketball regular season is coming to a close and conference tournaments have already started for some leagues. While most conference tournaments will tip off this week, some are already in the books with teams having to wait two weeks until their first NCAA Tournament games.

The Big Ten Tournament got underway this past weekend, earlier than it ever has because Jim Delaney, the commissioner, wanted it to take place at Madison Square Garden. That forced a condensed schedule in order to accommodate the earlier tourney since the Big East hosts its annual conference tournament the weekend of Selection Sunday.

Some heavyweights, like Michigan State and Ohio State, didn’t make it to the title game while Michigan and Purdue faced off for the crown. Both teams could be looking at a 2-seed when Selection Sunday approaches.

Other conferences, such as the SEC and ACC, have featured some intense battles with teams beating up on each other. Louisville almost took down No. 1 Virginia, but an epic collapse in the final 0.9 seconds changed that. Kentucky continues to falter and the much-anticipated Duke vs. North Carolina rivalry game took place.

The Week 18 rankings will see quite the shakeup heading into conference tournament time. March Madness is officially here, folks.
