Kobe Bryant is a first-ballot Hall of Fame inductee when the time comes and after Sunday night, he is now an Oscar recipient and LeBron James intends to follow suit.

The Kobe Bryant-LeBron James saga and comparisons never cease to amaze us. Here are two individuals who rarely played each other during their careers, but have never been more contrasted closely outside of the Jordan vs. LeBron debate. The Kobe “Stans” will argue that the “mamba” is the only player in NBA history who is rightfully considered the closest next coming of Jordan and LeBron “Stans” will say the league has never seen anything like LBJ.

Kobe has five NBA titles to go along with an NBA Rookie of the Year, 18 All-Star appearances, two Finals MVPs and 12 All-Defensive team selections and while James has intentions of passing Kobe on the All-time lists before retiring and looking to catch Bryant in titles won, there’s one more gold trophy that the King now yearns for—an Oscar.

Kobe Bryant won an Oscar Sunday night for Best Animated Short for his film, Dear Basketball, a six-minute short directed by Disney animator Glenn Keane that announced Bryant’s retirement from basketball based on a poem written by Bryant.

After Bryant received his praises from his fellow NBA brethren on Sunday night, LeBron was quick to weigh in on Monday.

LeBron receiving an Oscar shouldn’t be too far-fetched from the realm of possibilities. The 15-year veteran has a hand in various media projects led by his company, SpringHill Entertainment, and with the announced remake of House Party coming, Space Jam in production, and Survivor’s Remorse on Starz, that time could be sooner than later. With the allure of Hollywood’s bright lights and the movie scene calling his name, maybe LeBron will be in Tinseltown come next season.

LeBron James — the jack of all trades and master of most, is in line to pass many of the NBA’s greats before he hangs it all up, whether that includes an Oscar nod is to be determined, but we’ll all be patiently waiting to stir the pot when it happens.
