After being released by the Carolina Panthers, Jonathan Stewart is on the free-agent market and looking for one more payday.

Jonathan Stewart is entering his 11th NFL season, and for the first time in his career, he’ll be changing teams. Stewart was released by the Panthers and is now hitting the market, hoping to catch on with a team that can contend for Super Bowl LIII.

Stewart, 30, has been a quality back that provides power and enough speed. While the Oregon product hasn’t had a 1,000-yard season since 2009, he’s shown his worth by averaging 4.3 yards per carry over his career, notching 51 touchdowns as well. However, it must be said Stewart hasn’t averaged 4.0 yards per carry since 2015.

Best fits

1. New England Patriots

The Patriots are likely going to lose both Rex Burkhead and Dion Lewis in free agency. New England could replace one of them with Stewart, who could add the value of a solid back who can both protect and produce. Stewart isn’t getting any younger, but New England has long been a good place for veterans to thrive.

2. Seattle Seahawks

Seattle has to figure out something on the ground. Russell Wilson has been the Seahawks’ best threat  out of the backfield since the departure of Marshawn Lynch. If the Seahawks want to upgrade on the cheap, Stewart would be a find addition to a team trying to bounce back from a tough 2017 campaign.

3. Green Bay Packers

The Packers have to figure out their problems behind Aaron Rodgers. Green Bay has been cycling through bad fits for years, ranging from Ty Montgomery and Eddie Lacy to James Starks and Christine Michael. A good option could help Rodgers and Co. get back to the Super Bowl for the first time since 2010, when they defeated the Pittsburgh Steelers.
