Junior Galette rumors: 3 best fits
After having a terrific start to his career with the New Orleans Saints, Junior Galette has fallen off the map. Now, he has a chance for a fresh start.
In the earlier portion of the decade, Junior Galette was terrorizing quarterbacks down by the Bayou. Now, Galette is simply trying to remain in the NFL, getting another chance to make an impression in a new city.
Galette turns 30 years old later in March, but he still has some juice. After missing the 2015 and ’16 seasons due to Achilles injuries, Galette played all 16 games for the Washington Redskins last year in a reduced role, notching three sacks. In the right system and on a snap limit, Galette could continue to see his pass-rush production pay dividends.
Best fits
1. Tampa Bay Buccaneers
The Buccaneers finished dead last in sacks last year, despite having Noah Spence and Gerald McCoy on the roster. General manager Jason Licht needs to add somebody off the edge, and Galette would be an intriguing name.
2. Kansas City Chiefs
Kansas City is moving on from Tamba Hali this offseason, and Galette could seemingly upgrade the Chiefs on the outside. He wouldn’t have too busy of a workload with Dee Ford and Justin Houston ahead of him, but that’s the point. Kansas City needs some extra buzz off the edge, and with limited cap resources, this is a good fit.

3. New England Patriots
New England signed James Harrison at the end of last season to give it some help before the playoffs. Harrison ended up playing well, and Galette could certainly do the same for Bill Belichick and Co. if given the chance. The Patriots are welcoming back Derek Rivers from injury this summer, and pairing him with Galette would be intriguing.
