Mike Wallace rumors: Top 3 landing spots
By Josh Hill
Mike Wallace has been a bust since leaving Pittsburgh, but can the right team fit revive his career?
It’s been a bumpy ride for Mike Wallace ever since he left Pittsburgh for Miami back in 2013. He’s played for three different teams since then but there’s hope that the fourth could be the one where he finally sticks.
Best fits
1. Jacksonville Jaguars
Two years ago, Wallace racked up over 1,000 yards and proved he could still be a downfield threat for Joe Flacco. Down in Jacksonville, the Jaguars just extended a guy who is basically Flacco, but younger — so this fit is natural. The Jags have Allen Hurns and Keelan Cole as their top receivers, but there’s a place for Wallace in the offense unless things are getting totally re-tooled. The Allen Robinson role could be filled by Wallace, who would add another veteran voice to the locker room.
2. Chicago Bears
Chicago needs to figure out ways to help Mitchell Trubisky be as successful as possible in 2018, which is easier said than done. Figuring Wallace as a guy who could do that on his own is the wrong way of looking at this fit. Putting him alongside the current crop of offensive stars could give Trubisky a sneaky weapon to use, as Wallace showed flashes over the last few seasons of a guy who could be a missing piece on offense.

3. Pittsburgh Steelers
Perhaps the best place for Wallace is his original home in the NFL: Pittsburgh. Wallace was looking like a stud for the Steelers until he wanted a fat contract, which is the one thing that the franchise has historically never handed out. Martavis Bryant is going through the same thing right now, and perhaps bringing Wallace back in could help change the way he looks at the future. Mainly this would be an unexpected reunion that might give the Steelers offense a weapon we didn’t know Ben Roethlisberger missed so much.
