Prince Amukamara has struggled to stay healthy throughout a star-crossed career, but the talent is there for another team to give him a chance.

After playing for three different teams in as many seasons, Prince Amukamara will once again be packing his bags. The former Nebraska star has washed out with the New York Giants, Jacksonville Jaguars and Chicago Bears, but enough skill remains for him to be intriguing on a low-cost deal.

Last year, Amukamara landed in the Windy City on a one-year deal and played in 14 games for the second consecutive season. The last time Amukamara played a full season was back in 2013, the only time it has happened in his seven-year career. All told, the former first-round pick has seven interceptions, the last coming in 2015.

Best fits

1. Denver Broncos

It’s been a while since the Broncos needed any help in the secondary, but the time has come with Aqib Talib reportedly set to be moved. General manager John Elway will be relying on Chris Harris Jr. and Bradley Roby, but there isn’t much depth behind them. Amukamara is a good bet on a short-term deal.

2. Houston Texans

Houston is going to lose Johnathan Joseph in free agency, and this would be a signing to replace the aging veteran. Amukamara has never been able to stay healthy, but Houston wouldn’t be relying on him to be more than a third corner behind Kevin Johnson and Kareem Jackson. It’s a low-risk, high-reward play by the Texans.

3. New England Patriots

The cash-strapped Patriots need to do something with the loss of Malcolm Butler, and Amukamara would be an intriguing option. Bill Belichick has a long history of getting reclamation projects into Foxbrough and turning their careers around, something he could very well do for this Massachusetts native.
