As we ramp up toward March Madness, the prospects in the draft are starting to separate themselves into tiers in the latest edition of our 2018 NBA mock draft.

The order for this mock draft is based upon 538’s CARM-Elo projections as of March 6. For each pick, team needs are taken into consideration, as well as fit.

Cincinnati. Jacob Evans. 30. player. 125. . G/F

This is originally the Rockets’ pick, and it lands with the Hawks in perfect position to take yet another wing who will inevitably come out of Atlanta a great player.

Evans has increased his 3-point efficiency each year of college, and he emerges now at 41 percent. The shot goes up quick and with confidence, and he can shoot it on the move easily. Going to the rim, his footwork is quietly solid, a sign that he can find points late in the clock when plans A through D have gone awry. Evans is a legitimate initiator for Cincinnati, dumping the ball into the post or driving and kicking depending on the situation. As much as positions matter, Evans is closer to a point guard than a wing despite standing 6-6.

The Hawks need talent, and though Taurean Prince has come along recently, who would ever accuse a rebuilding team of having too many wings? No one, that’s who.
