The Miami Dolphins are expected to release veteran defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh before the start of free agency. Here are three possible landing spots for him.

Ndamukong Suh’s reign of terror in Miami is coming to an end.

According to NFL insider Ian Rapoport, the Dolphins plan to release the veteran defensive tackle before the beginning of the new league year on Wednesday.

In his last three seasons with the Dolphins, Suh totaled 15.5 sacks, 13 passes defensed and two forced fumbles, both of which came in the 2017 season.

But after the Dolphins signed Suh to the largest contract ever for a defensive player at six years and $114 million, the time to pay the piper arrived. Suh was set to count $26.1 million against the Dolphins’ cap in 2018.

Even so, Suh’s contract will still carry $22.2 million in dead cap for the Dolphins.

Let’s take a look at three teams that could look to add Suh ahead of the 2018 season.

Best Fits

1. Philadelphia Eagles

Aren’t the Eagles stacked enough on their defensive line? Maybe, but they have to be intrigued by the idea of rotating in Suh along with defensive tackles Michael Bennett and Fletcher Cox. Given how much Suh could impact a team’s culture, the team that signs him is going to need to have a strong one already established. The Super Bowl-winning Philadelphia Eagles aren’t going to let someone like Suh become a locker-room distraction.

2. Dallas Cowboys

The Dallas Cowboys have shown in the past that they’re not afraid to take on a player with character issues. While it’s probably not smart for the team to continue making a habit of that, there’s no question that Dallas’ recent efforts to rebuilt its front seven haven’t yielded much fruit. Dallas will likely at least kick the tires on Suh.

3. New York Jets

The Jets’ defensive line is in need of some reinforcements after their run defense proved leaky in 2017. They need to replace the production of Muhammad Wilkerson. But the Jets have plenty of cap space and could look to bring Suh in on, this time, a contract that actually fits his skillset.
