26. Montreal Canadiens

The Montreal Canadiens are having a similar season to the Ottawa Senators. It is disappointing with a lot of outside distractions going on. The Canadiens were not an expected to be a top team in the division this year. But when you have an elite goalie like Carey Price, defenseman like Shea Weber and forwards like Brendan Gallagher and Jonathan Drouin, you should be much more competitive. The Canadiens’ season never really got off the ground. They didn’t have a great start, but it was salvageable. Their play never picked up, and they fell further and further behind.

Last week was not kind to the Canadiens. They dropped three games to the New Jersey Devils, Florida Panthers and the Tampa Bay Lightning. They also have a tough schedule coming up this week. The Columbus Blue Jackets are pushing for the playoffs while Dallas, Pittsburgh and Toronto will be trying to lock down their own playoff spots. As the season winds down, the Canadiens have a lot of decisions to make. What to do with Shea Weber? Will they finally deal Alex Galchenyuk? And what to do with their captain, Max Pacioretty? Time will tell if it will be current general manager Marc Bergevin making all of these important decisions, but he may be on his way out of the organization.
