What we learned, what we took away and what the future holds for the superstars of SmackDown Live following Sunday night’s WWE Fastlane pay-per-view event.

The road to WrestleMania 34 is all clear. WWE Fastlane was the final pit stop on the path to New Orleans and the WWE Universe finally has a little clarity on which direction things are going to go as it pertains to the superstars of SmackDown Live, even if many people pretty much knew which direction things were going to go anyway.

However, we still had to get through Sunday night and I’ll be the first to admit that the pay-per-view was better than I thought it was going to be. I didn’t have very high expectations going in and while I won’t say that there is a great match on this card, I will say that a lot of these turned out better than I had hoped for.

Even the kickoff show had a decent match on it as the trio of Tye Dillinger (who I will admit to forgetting about), Tyler Breeze and Fandango defeated Mojo Rawley, Chad Gable and Shelton Benjamin. It’s crazy to think that Gable and Benjamin just had a tag title program and are now relegated to the preshow but that’s what happens sometimes. The crowd at the Nationwide Arena in Columbus, Ohio actually seemed to be paying attention to this match and while it didn’t go very long, it had some decent moments to it. Getting pinned on a kickoff show is never a good thing so I’m not expecting much from Mojo moving forward but it was nice to see Tye Dillinger pick up a win.

Now let’s check out the action on the main card of the 2018 edition of WWE Fastlane.
