Roma face Shakhtar at the Stadio Olimpico on Tuesday, March 13. Here’s all the info you need to watch the Champions League match.
The first leg ended with Shakhtar coming out on top 2-1 in Ukraine thanks to second-half goals from Facundo Ferreyra and a screamer from Fred to overcome Roma’s 1-0 first half advantage.
Although neither team are likely to win the competition, advancing to the quarterfinals for either side would equal their longest run in the competition. Shakhtar made the quarters in 2011; Roma did in 2008.
The Ukranian side haven’t lost in the five matches they’ve played since returning from their winter break. The only goal they’ve conceded in that stretch was to Cengiz Under in leg one against Roma.
If they make it five clean sheets in six matches since resuming their season, they’ll knock Roma out of the competition.
Roma didn’t respond well in the immediate aftermath of the leg one loss. They followed it up with a 2-0 home loss to AC Milan in Serie A, but they have recovered since then.
They faced Napoli away after Milan and Maurizio Sarri’s side were on top of Serie A at the time. Roma came out on top in a six goal thriller, winning 4-2. An Edin Dzeko brace with a goal in each half lead Roma to victory.
A 3-0 win over Torino followed the win over Napoli, meaning both teams are in good form heading into their biggest match of the season so far.
The Champions League match between Roma and Shakhtar will be broadcast on live TV on Fox Sports. Live streaming is available on the Fox Soccer Match Pass, which you can access with a subscription, either online or through the Fox Soccer Match Pass.
Will Shakhtar get the result they need on the road? Or will Roma defend the Stadio Olimpico? Only one way to find out.
