Ndamukong Suh rumors: Cowboys, Seahawks interested

The Dallas Cowboys and Seattle Seahakws are reportedly the top suitors for Ndamukong Suh.
Ndamukong Suh is a free agent after the Miami Dolphins released him on Wednesday. According to ESPN’s Dianna Russini, the Dallas Cowboys and Seattle Sehawks are interested in signing the 31-year-old defensive tackle.
Russini also reports that Suh is looking for the highest bidder, which could complicate things for either team. The Seahawks have just $27.5 million in cap space, even after releasing Richard Sherman. The Cowboys’ cap situation is way tighter with only $3.04 million, so they’d have to shuffle the roster if they hope to make space for Suh.
Suh spent the past three years in Miami after signing a mega-contract worth up to $114.375 million. He saw just under half that amount, with the Dolphins cutting him to save cap space. Despite the pricey contract, Suh remains one of the best defensive linemen in football. Last season, he recorded 4.5 sacks, two forced fumbles, and 48 total tackles. Suh also played all 16 games and hasn’t missed a single game since a suspension in 2011.
The Cowboys and Seahawks are both looking for help on the defensive line after disappointing campaigns in 2017. For Dallas, Suh would be an excellent complement to edge rusher Demarcus Lawrence, who signed the franchise tender after putting up 15 sacks last season. He’d also form a strong duo with fellow defensive tackle David Irving, who had a career year with seven sacks.

Meanwhile, the Seahawks have holes and question marks all over the defensive line. They just traded Michael Bennett to the Philadelphia Eagles, while Cliff Avril’s future is in doubt with a career-threatening neck injury. Sheldon Richardson is moving on in free agency, and Malik McDowell has yet to play after an ATV crash sidelined him his entire rookie year. Suh will provide an immediate boost to a defense that’s trying to move on from the Legion of Boom era.
While Suh is on the older side for a defensive lineman, he’s still a potent force as both a pass rusher and run stopper. If the money is right, he’d be a natural fit for either team.
