Los Angeles Rams meeting with Ndamukong Suh
The Los Angeles Rams have a meeting with defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh on Tuesday, potentially adding a great piece to an already terrific defense.
Suh is a five time Pro-Bowler and a three-time All-Pro with 51.5 career sacks to his name. In other words, he can help the Los Angeles Rams both against the run and pass, taking considerable pressure away from Aaron Donald.
Let’s refresh what the Rams have done on the defensive side of the ball this offseason: Aqib Talib — who is recruiting Suh — and Marcus Peters have already been acquired. Trumaine Johnson left to sign with the Jets, and Alec Ogletree and Robert Quinn have been traded. They have shown relative comfort in taking on players with outward personalities so the willingness to give Suh a chance isn’t surprising.

What is surprising that Wade Phillips plays a 3-4 defense, while pairing Suh with Michael Brockers would liken the team more towards a 4-3 with two defensive tackles. The Rams must think that Suh can work within the scheme, often an “under look” from Phillips. Regardless, any defensive line that features Suh and Donald would be a nightmare for teams on the interior.
In essence, Suh and Donald both mandate double teams on runs toward the inside or a passing down This would make it far easier for anybody coming off the edge to get pressure, considering the tackle isn’t going to have help barring a max protect situation.

Suh has also had visits with the New Orleans Saints and Tennessee Titans, and has one scheduled with the Seattle Seahawks, all of whom would likely use him in his usual role at tackle. If he is feeling uncomfortable at defensive end, these teams would likely have a better chance to sign him.
Suh has cash earnings of $124,215,157 and make just under 17 million last year. However, he should be slightly cheaper given that last season he had 4.5 sacks, his lowest total since 2011. With the Rams spending lightly on a talented but notably cheap secondary, they can afford Suh in the short term.
