2018 NFL Mock Draft: Jets trade up for Josh Rosen
By Brad Weiss
The New York Giants could go ahead and draft a quarterback with the No. 2 overall pick, but my guess is they go another route. Eli Manning is locked up for two more years, and new general manager Dave Gettleman is not going to waste this pick on someone who will not see the field until Manning is gone. Bringing in an impact player is the way to go, and Saquon Barkley from Penn State is the best playmaker in this draft class.
Barkley did it all during his time at Penn State, and his game will certainly translate over to the NFL. Not only is he dynamic as a running back, but he also has incredible pass-catching skills, and is a great return guy. The Giants are building their roster to win now, and Barkley would be a great piece of the puzzle to bring in for the 2018 season.
New York already has brought in big players this offseason, including Nate Solder to solidify the offensive tackle position. Odell Beckham Jr. should come back healthy, and Manning definitely has some gas left in the tank. This Giants team should turn around from their terrible 2017 campaign very fast, giving new head coach Pat Shurmur a winning team in year one.
