2018 NBA Mock Draft: Where did the prospects go?
I stopped pretending like I understood this year’s NCAA tournament days ago, but Kentucky was the latest Blue Blood to fall victim to this year’s madness, losing 61-58 to Kansas State on Thursday night. Gilgeous-Alexander’s guidance was not enough against the Wildcats’ great defense, and Kentucky’s all-freshman experiment is over.
The freshman went 2-10 from the field in what could be his final college game, but it appeared that getting to the foul line and leading Kentucky to a victory would salvage the poor shooting night. That was not the case, as Kansas State maintained its four-point halftime lead throughout the second period and emerged with a victory. Gilgeous-Alexander posted five rebounds and five assists, but also five turnovers. It was a bad day for someone who has become one of the more consistent players in the country this season.
The Clippers will soon need a rest on their backcourt despite investing heavily in it this summer. Neither Milos Teodosic or Patrick Beverley is valuable in a rebuild, and being the coach’s son will only take him so far as he gets toward his 30s. Gilgeous- Alexander would give them someone who could play next to guys initially before honing his chops as a ball-handler later on.
