2018 NBA Mock Draft: Where did the prospects go?
Musa has struggled over the last week against the Croatian A-1 League, scoring a combined eight points in two games on 3-11 shooting from the field. Inconsistency continues to be the biggest setback for the 18-year-old combo forward.
As much as you can make the case for Luka Doncic translating quickly to the NBA based on the level of competition he has matched up against in the Liga EBA and EuroLeague, Musa is much harder to predict considering he plays against older guys, none of whom probably sniffed the NBA.
That said, it’s not difficult to imagine Musa having success early on as a spot-up shooter, and we saw how desperate the Sixers were to find a guy like Ersan Ilyasova in the buyout market this season to help space the floor and stabilize their frontcourt rotation behind Joel Embiid and Dario Saric.
While Jonah Bolden and Anzejs Pasecniks (No. 37 and No. 25 picks in 2017, respectively) could both come over next year, Musa likely would not. Drafting Musa would be a restock of the draft-and-stash cupboard, and a smart use of assets for a team facing tough decisions about playing time and future contracts already.
