Reports of a players only meeting for the Spurs has been in the news for all the wrong reasons. The meeting was supposedly for players to confront Kawhi Leonard about his absence, but Rudy Gay disputes that notion.

Traditionally, the San Antonio Spurs are known to keep in-house matters, in-house. But lately, that hasn’t been the case. Last summer,  LaMarcus Aldridge let it be known he was unhappy with his role in the Spurs offense. Now, Kawhi Leonard has become what team-oriented clubs such as the Spurs despise: a distraction. Leonard has missed all but nine games this season with a quad injury.

At times it has appeared that Leonard is resorting to a game of hide and seek, saying he’s ready to play, then backtracking. It’s been a frustrating situation for both parties and yesterday reporting indicated that the players were frustrated as well. The first report, from ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski. was that the meeting was emotional and tense. But Rudy Gay disputed that entire notion, via KSAT, stating it was actually a light conversation as a team.

"“I’ve been on a lot of teams and obviously things get discussed,” Gay said. “I wouldn’t say it was a legit team meeting, it was just one of those things where we all got together and we talked about things that were going on.”While Gay admitted to the players getting together, he said it was not as tension filled as reports indicated.“Heated? I don’t think so. It was just a conversation. Nothing more than that, nothing different than I have seen before,” Gay said. “Actually it was a lot lighter than I have seen before. It was nothing for you guys to be worried about.”"

Danny Green, a fellow member of the Spurs, also disputed the story. What happens next in this story is anyone’s guess.
