It hasn’t been the easiest season for Cleveland Cavaliers forward Kevin Love, and the tough times continued Tuesday night in Miami.

The Cleveland Cavaliers seemed like they were getting on a roll at just the right time. They had just gotten forward Kevin Love back in the fold and hadn’t lost in his four games back. Love looked like he hadn’t skipped a beat, averaging a double-double since his return. They also beat the Toronto Raptors in comeback fashion.

That was a big win as the Raptors are one of the main threats in the East to beat the Cavs. Yet it seems like poor Love can’t catch a break this season as he left the game versus the Heat with a possible concussion. He also suffered a pretty nasty tooth injury. We’re not doctors at FanSided, but your tooth shouldn’t look like that.

Love is always going to be in LeBron James’ shadow (who wouldn’t be?) but he’s a much more important piece to the Cavs than he gets credit for. This is especially true after the Cavs traded guard Kyrie Irving to Boston this past offseason. Love is pretty much the unquestioned number two option in the offense.

Cleveland did a nice job of bringing in pieces at the trade deadline. They admitted their mistake with Isaiah Thomas and moved on. The players they got back are all complimentary pieces to a good offense. The Cavs need Love to be on the floor come the playoffs.

The good news for Cleveland and their fans is Love hasn’t even been ruled out for the next game. There’s still a chance he won’t miss any action but concussions can be a little tricky to diagnose on some occasions. Symptoms can show up later on and nobody can be quite sure how things will go for Love.

Hopefully for the Cavs, this absence will be a short one for Love. It’s such a freaky accident on a routine play that it hopefully will not derail Love for long. He’s an integral piece for Cleveland and maybe this just winds up being a minor speed bump in the middle of a long season.
