2018 NFL Mock Draft: Sam Darnold goes to Browns
By Brad Weiss
The Arizona Cardinals will go into next season with a brand new look, as they will be replacing their head coach, and their quarterback. Carson Palmer and Bruce Arians both retired after last season, leaving the team with a hole in each role with the organization. Arizona took care of the head coach thing early, bringing in Steven Wilks, and then signed Sam Bradford to a monster deal to be their quarterback next season.
While Bradford stands to make a lot of money from the organization, he is definitely not the long-term solution at the position. The Cardinals need to spend their first round pick on a signal-caller, and they may end up trading up higher to get their guy. Josh Allen is rated anywhere from the top overall pick, to this pick at No. 15, where he could be available come April.
There is no doubting that Allen has the physical attributes you look for in a quarterback. He is big, smart, and can throw a football the length of the field (well, maybe not that far.) The only issue is he struggled against good competition in college, and while that is likely due to the lack of talent around him, it is still pretty alarming when you look at the stats.
