2018 NFL Mock Draft: Sam Darnold goes to Browns
By Brad Weiss
The New York Jets swung a huge deal to move up three spots, where they are almost certain to draft their new franchise quarterback. This organization has been starving for star power at the position since Joe Namath, and there is no bigger star in this draft than Baker Mayfield. The Oklahoma signal-caller was made for the bright lights of New York, and he could be the third overall pick in April.
There have been reports about his behavior, and some lazy people have even compared him to Johnny Manziel. The fact of the matter is that Mayfield is a bonafide leader, and has had to fight for everything he has accomplished so far in his career. Not only did he walk on at Texas Tech, but also at Oklahoma, where he became the first walk-on to go on and win a Heisman Trophy.
The move to trade up from No. 6 says a lot about where the team is planning to draft when it comes to a position. Mayfield has shown incredible talent not only on the field during his time at Oklahoma, but he has impressed at the NFL Scouting Combine as well. He is a great kid, and if the Jets do take him at No. 3 overall, they are certainly going to be happy they did.
