The Tampa Bay Buccaneers were the only team in the NFC South not to make the playoffs last season, and that came as a bit of a shock. Heading into the year, many predicted they would take the next step forward, as Jameis Winston looked so good the year before. Well, injuries and inconsistent play hurt the development of Winston, who has a lot of question marks heading into next season.

Tampa Bay does have the talent to compete, but they need help on the defensive side of the ball. One area where they could stand to improve is in the secondary, and Derwin James could be available to them at No. 7. James is the most versatile defensive back in this draft class, and the Buccaneers need all the help they can get in their last level of defense in 2018.

James played safety and cornerback for the Florida State Seminoles, and was one of the best return men in the history of the school. The Buccaneers do have pieces in place to be competitive next season, and adding a quality player to their secondary will help them against the likes of Cam Newton, Drew Brees, and Matt Ryan twice a season. Look for them to take a step forward in 2018, but they will only go as far as Winston will lead them.
