2018 NBA Mock Draft: Time for the Final Four
Though Musa has indeed been inconsistent this season, his best performances have been as explosive as anyone in the NCAA.
The Bosnian forward on Tuesday scored 33 points and dished seven assists in 40 minutes as a starter after alternating between starting and coming off the bench all year. Though you could chalk some of his big night up to the minutes load, his efficiency stands out as well. Musa took nine shots from distance, closer to the volume he’ll need to be at in the NBA to effectively space the floor. Too often this year, Musa has not had the opportunity to get up a high number of 3-point shots.
He also got to the line six times after not shooting a single free-throw over his past three games. It was a massive bounce back game for the 18-year-old.
In Los Angeles, Musa will provide a younger traditional stretch forward that coach Luke Walton will need going forward. Bringing Brook Lopez in this summer made a big difference for the Lakers’ offense compared with lesser options like Tarik Black the last few seasons. He could pair with or back up Kyle Kuzma to take the team’s shooting up another level.
