Here are five things that you may have missed during the NBA week.

While it hasn’t been a good week for all, Ben Simmons has surely had one of his best week’s of the season. The Philadelphia 76ers clinched a playoff berth for the first time in nearly a decade, for starters. As it stands, the Sixers sit half-a-game back of the Cavaliers for the number three seed in the Eastern Conference.

In addition to clinching the playoffs, Simmons saw his video game prediction (and trash talk) come true. When streaming the popular game PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds (PUBG), Simmons asked Timberwolves star Karl-Anthony Towns to play with him. Towns, with an iffy tone in his voice, seemingly declined because he had to prepare for a game the following day. Simmons then asked who Towns would be playing, Towns replied with the Hawks and Simmons laughed at Towns and stated he had time to come play. Turns out, Simmons was correct. The following night, Towns dropped a franchise record 56 points on the Hawks.

Meanwhile, Carmelo Anthony is quickly becoming the laughing stock of the NBA over the last month due to his inability to close out games. After missing two winning free throws in Boston and costing the Thunder that game, he choked again against the Blazers. For this reason, it’ll now be incredibly difficult for the Thunder to catch the Blazers in the third seed. Staying on the topic of seeding, the Houston Rockets have all-but locked up the one seed. With seven games left in the season, Houston holds a six-and-a-half game lead over a banged up Golden State team. But this week, it’s a player’s only headline edition of the FanSided NBA Recap. Here are five things you may have missed from around the association in the last seven days.
