South Carolina Gamecocks football will ready for next season with their 2018 spring game on Saturday, March 31. Here’s all the info you need to watch.
There weren’t a great deal of expectations for the South Carolina Gamecocks entering the 2017 college football season, even with Will Muschamp on the sidelines. However, after going 9-4 last season and competing heartily in the vaunted SEC, there’s reason to be plenty hopeful for 2018. Their work to prove that, though, starts on Saturday in their Garnet and Black spring game.
Some of the familiar faces for South Carolina’s football team won’t be around on Saturday at Williams-Brice Stadium for the 2018 spring game. Most notably, stud wide receiver Deebo Samuel will be sitting out to rest an injury and not put himself at any risk with the season approaching faster than most realize.
What will be interesting to see is what Muschamp overall has in store for this game. After allowing contact on his youngest quarterbacks on the roster this past week at practice (h/t SEC Country), we could see some things we aren’t accustomed to in spring games from the head coach. With that plus the talent of the team, it should be a good show going down in Columbia on Saturday afternoon.

After a season where Muschamp had the Gamecocks looking far more competitive than expected last year, there’s reason to watch out for this South Carolina team. They’re going to want to get better, be faster and simply look fiercer. That starts right now, so we’ll have to see if the Garnet and Black game gives us any indication of what’s to come.
