The golf world is in disbelief; Tiger Woods is a legitimate threat to win the 2018 Masters Tournament at Augusta National.

Tiger Woods was the world’s best golfer for almost two decades. Over his career, he captured numerous major titles and was compared to golf greats such as Jack Nicklaus and Bobby Jones. His legacy looked to be cemented, and then it all came crashing down. The scandals surrounding Woods’ life, along with numerous injuries, derailed his career.

The year is 2018 and, suddenly, the 42-year-old is a threat to win the Masters. He is playing some of the best golf of his life. Woods has fully healed from his injuries and recent back surgery, and he is back to being the Woods that the golfing world had been used to seeing.

The hype around Woods does not come without proof that he is back to prior skill level. On Monday at the Masters practice rounds, Woods was seen shooting an eagle on the second hole of Augusta:

The hype around Tiger Woods will always be present, because he’s Tiger, but this year is different.

Woods looks to be back to his old self. Woods is playing with the confidence he has lacked for the better part of the past three years. Woods is much more in control of his game, which he is demonstrating through the Augusta practice rounds.

Woods has played well so far in 2018, finishing in the top 10 twice and playing quite well in the process. He has demonstrated that he can compete with the world’s best. There are many things that need go Tiger’s way this weekend, but if he keeps performing the way he has been it would not be a surprise that come Sunday he is standing on the podium in his fifth green jacket with his 15th major victory.
