Bubba Watson is one of the most adored golfers on the PGA Tour. But will the two-time Masters Champion be playing at Augusta National this weekend?
After a rough 2017 season on the PGA Tour, popular left-handed golfer Bubba Watson looks to be primed for another trip to Augusta National. Watson is known for his ability to crush it out of the tee box and his two wins in The Masters back in 2012 and 2014. His pink driver is stuff of legend.
Watson hit one of the most iconic shots in the major’s history back in 2012. This was the one where Watson successfully hooked it out of the pine straw on No. 10 versus South Africa’s Louis Oosthuzien to win in sudden death. Let’s just say it was one of the most awesome shots of all-time.
But the question is if Watson will be playing in the 2018 Masters? Well, that would be a yes, because Watson lives to win in August on Sunday. Two of his 11 PGA Tour wins have come on the only golf course that matters. After taking two of three in 2014, Watson has not played as well in the last three playings of the Masters. Could 2018 be a sign of good things to come for Watson?
Turns out, 2018 has been good thus far for Watson on the links. He has two wins already this season. Watson won the Genesis Open back in February with a score of -12 by two strokes over Tony Finau and Kevin Na. He edged out Kevin Kisner in the WGC-Dell Technologies Match Play in late March.
Overall, Watson seems to be in a good spot to play his best at Augusta National this week. Yes, Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson will be there, but few golfers can get the crowd fired up like Watson can in August on Sundays. Here’s to him earning his third green jacket with last year’s champion Sergio Garcia helping him put it on.
